Lots of natural ways exist for growing a bright and healthy organic garden. All that is needed from you to have a great organic garden is to learn what they are, and to put them into practice.

When growing plants inside of the house, you should ensure the thermostat is set at around 65-75 degrees in the daytime. This is the optimum temperature to ensure strong growth. If you aren’t wanting your house to be this warm in the winter, you can use a heat lamp on the plants.

It can be extremely fast and easy to plant perennials into your garden. Simply slice into the ground with a spade, flip the top layer of soil, and then cover it with several inches of wood chips. You want to then give the area about a couple of weeks, then you want your new perennials planted by digging into it.

Pine can make a great mulch. Acidic soil is a favorite of garden plants that are high in acidity. For such plants, pine needles function both as a handy mulch and as a soil amendment to lower the pH. Cover your beds with two inches of needles; acid will be dispersed into the soil as they decompose.

Coffee grounds are a good addition to your soil. Coffee grounds have nitrogen that plants will utilize. The coffee grounds act as a powerful nitrogen source that will help your plants bloom much quicker.

Include both green and dry plant refuse in your compost. Examples of green plant material are spent flowers, fruit and vegetable waste, grass clippings, weeds, and leaves. Dried plant material consists of sawdust, shredded paper, cardboard, straw, and cut-up and dried wood material. Certain substances will undermine your composting efforts and cancel out any benefits; these include meat, charcoal, ash or plants that have diseases or fungal growths.

Killing weeds the natural way? A layer of newspaper, several pages thick, placed over the ground will do the trick. Weeds can only grow in sunlight. The layers of newspaper will kill the weeds because they no longer receive any sunlight. The paper will break down quickly and cleanly, adding to your compost. To improve the appearance of newspaper, simply spread a bit of mulch over it.

Slugs are a nuisance that can be easily remedied with the use of an organic beer tramp. Bury a single glass jar with the open mouth level with your soil in the garden. Fill this jar up with beer almost entirely. Slugs will be attracted by the beer and fall into the jar.

Annually rotate your garden layout or plan. Repeatedly planting the same greenery in the same place can cause fungus and disease. These harmful elements remain in the soil and can damage the plants you place in that spot the following year. If you change things and plant your garden in a different area, you will have a way to keep fungus at bay.

Gardening is within everybody’s reach, but you will only make the most of your gardening experience with knowledge. Put this advice to work for you.
